Media Smart and First News have come together to create the Boys’ Biggest Conversation – a campaign to encourage young men, across the UK, to talk about body image and the effect it has on their mental wellbeing.
With the help of TV doctor and youth specialist, Dr Ranj, we’ve made a fascinating short film featuring boys from schools around the country. Have a watch and hear what they have to say on the matter…
If you are a teacher and the film has struck a chord, why not carry on the conversation in the classroom by downloading Media Smart’s free educational resources on body image.
Likewise, parents or guardians, can use our free guidelines for discussions at home.
If you or anybody else you know have been affected by the issues raised in the film you can contact the NSPCC on 0808 800 5000 or ChildLine on 0800 1111. Alternatively, visit their websites for further advice and support.
Join and support our campaign by following and sharing the hashtag #ThisBoyTalks.
Media Smart is a not-for-profit organisation, funded by the UK advertising industry, which creates free educational materials for schools and youth organisations, for teachers and guardians, to help young people critically evaluate the media and advertising they come across in their daily lives.
2,200,000 young people nationwide are reading and watching First News each week, with over half of all UK schools subscribing to their paper.
