Secondary school resources that can be used to support the PSHE Curriculum

Media Smart’s PSHE Association quality assured teaching materials take the pain out of lesson planning. We’ve done all the research and preparation for you, so these guides are ready to download and use immediately. All our resources are designed to be engaging as well as educational, with practical and interactive lesson plans and activities that will captivate students.

Although this lesson focuses on how the male body is represented in the media, it is designed for use with students aged 11–14 years of both genders, to build an understanding how this issue can affect a everyone’s body confidence and self-esteem.

Off the back of Credos (the Advertising industry’s think tank) research, we saw a need to create educational materials that focus on the effects of negative body self-image on boys (as most are more girl focused).

To accompany the teaching resources, the team created the film below called the Boys’ Biggest Conversation, with First News and TV medic - Dr Ranj Singh. We interviewed secondary school boys, inviting them to share how they feel about their appearance, and exploring why they feel that way.
