Great progress but our work continues…
This week, Media Smart marked two notable 'events'. We were delighted to announce that we have had over 15,000 downloads of our new resources since the relaunch last year. But while celebrating our achievement, we also lent our support to World Mental Health Day 2016, because we recognise many young people still face challenges connected with their body image.
How the media represents body image is just one part of the mental health puzzle, just as it’s only one of the resources available for download on our website. It is an issue that can affect men and women of all ages, cultures and lifestyles – which is why we’ve worked hard to ensure that our educational resources for primary schools are as accessible and as inclusive as possible.
They will also be followed by a companion resource for secondary schools, due for publication next year.
Building body confidence, spreading messages of body positivity and developing emotional resilience are crucial for teachers, and we’re proud to say that we will continue supporting them in this work – all made possible by our fantastic supporters.
So keep an eye out for our next set of resources to spread the word to help us reach even more teachers, parents and youth organisations and here’s to the next 15,000 steps forward…
